GOMZ - LOMO Leningrad camera
Produced by russian GOMZ from 1956 to 1968, Designer I.Shapiro c. 70000 produced, this spring winder camera was really a unique project, with an interesting rangefinder, interchangeable 39x1 screw lenses,

this camera won the "Grand Prix de Bruxelles" in 1958.

GOMZ means "Gosularstvennyi Optiko-Mekhanicheskii Zavod (State Optical-Mechanical Factory)". Founded in 1932 near Leningrad city (now returned St. Petersburg), the GOMZ factory is one of the oldest Soviet optical companies. In 1965, the factory changed its name to LOMO " Leningradskoe Optiko Mekhanichesko Obedinenie " (Leningrad Optical-Mechanical Union). The Leningrad is a Leica screw mount camera, very different from FED and Zorki cameras, one of few spring windered camera with leica screw mount. The back and baseplate, which are combined, remove to permit film loading. They are locked in place by a key and a wheel (this is visible on the picture on the base of the camera, below the self timer lever). The baseplate is fitted with an extendable arm, to prevent the camera tipping. Standard lense is usally KMZ Jupiter-8 50mm f:2, but also Jupiter-3 50mm f:1,5. All lenses, russian or others, with leica screw 39x1 are usable on this nice camera.
